Here’s our guide on our favorite spots to enjoy the sun/sunset while sipping on a few delicious, umbrella accessorized, cocktails and stare at the meat by the hotel pool. Since you know we love saving dinero while we drink – each spot included on the list has some great Summer drink/food specials!

MONDAYS:

Viceroy, Cameo Bar Happy Hour, 5pm – 7pm (Mon – Fri), Drinks+Food $5-$9/ea

Great scene, cool style aesthetic, and a good starting point for your bar hopping on Main Street in SaMo. Happy hour deals are valid inside at the Cameo Bar as well as poolside. (As of 3/31/11 this deal was still valid)

TUESDAYS:

Avalon BH, ‘SALUTE’ Poolside Happy Hour 5pm – 9pm (Tues & Thurs):  1/2 off Bar Menu!

Join the Avalon every Tuesday and Thursday for a long lasting happy hour by the pool! The drink deals are great, the Kelly Wearstler designed hotel has funky+cool style, and the poolside ‘scenery’ is beautiful. Happy hour is also offered from 5pm – 7pm Monday, Wednesday, & Friday, with $25 bottles of wine offered on Sundays. (Olivero still has HH M-F, 5-7. No longer list the late night happy hours on Tue/Thurs on the website though.)

THURSDAYS:

Peninsula Beverly Hills, Rooftop Garden 5pm – 7pm: 1/2 off Drinks + Free Valet!

We held a ‘swanky but skanky’ event here once, but in the end I think we’re a little to déclassé for this upper-crust spot (spot was a little too swanky, us: a little too skanky). But maybe you can keep it in line long enough to enjoy a discounted cocktail and a pretty view? Who knows – you may meet your Sugar Daddy/Momma here… just remember to thank us for it later! FRIDAYS:

Ditch Day @ Shangrila, 1pm – 7pm Poolside: Live Music + $5 Cocktails + $5 Menu Items

Your job is a joke. They definitely won’t miss you if you skipped out at lunch time. So what better way to enjoy the afternoon than with a cocktail by the beach? You know we’re right…(2011: Deal no longer valid, check back during the summer)

SATURDAYS:

W Westwood, ‘ESCAPE’ with Disaronno 7pm – 10pm (Thurs. – Sat., Starts May 29th)

Join the W for a pool party & cocktail tasting with Disaronno!  Tastings occur from 7pm – 8pm every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday starting May 29th (and ending September 4th) and entrance is free. Stay past the tasting for a lively pool party that goes til 10pm. Or show up before the party for the W’s Saturday ‘Backyard BBQ’ (12pm – 5pm). Reservations strongly recommended. Standard Downtown, Saturday Pool Parties 1pm – 8pm

Are you the kinda kid that ‘knows the DJ’ or is buds with the promoter? Then this is your spot on Saturday. Every weekend the deals change (depending on which promoter is handling the event) but last summer deals included free Jello shots and discounted bottles of champagne. Just make sure you talk to your ‘cousin’ first to get you on the list so you don’t have to wait in that silly line. (2011: Deal no longer valid, check back during the summer)
