Westwood Happy Hour Alert

May 27, 2010

Last time we went out in Westwood we got laughed at. Who the hell, other than UCLA kids, goes out in Westwood?! And where do you go? Maloneys? Chilis? Right….

No, that’s simply not appropriate for post grad USC alums.

(For the record we had attended an event at the W and wanted to continue drinking so we hit up Westwood Brew Co… really it was the only respectable option at the time and they had delish mini corn dogs…)

Well now we can go out in Westwood without wearing a cloak of shame because The Glendon has opened and it’s wonderfully kinda-adult, not decked out in Bruin paraphernalia, and has a daily HAPPY HOUR.

The Glendon

1071 Glendon Avenue

M-F, 4pm – 7pm

$4 Wine, $5 Well Cocktails, $5 Select Martinis, $5 Craft Beers, 1/2 off Apps

Best part of this happy hour: you can make reservations for tables!

Unfortunately, we learned about the resy rule too late and after showing up at 6pm waited until 7:05pm to be seated (thus missing Happy Hour food specials entirely.) But at least we got to drink! The $5 Lemon Drop martini was fresh, not overly sweet, and delicious. The boys we arrived with ordered beers & well drinks and seemed pleased with the $5 price tag as well.

Mac&Cheese, Crab Cakes, & Guiness

Despite having to pay full price for food we ordered off the app menu anyway – getting the crab cakes and mac n’ cheese (see amazingly wonderful and professional looking Blackberry photography above.) Mac & Cheese (with bacon of course) was good but not rich enough for my taste, even with the bacon. The crab cakes were pretty good and came with a little avacado ganache, which was great.

In the end it cost a little more than we planned on spending on apps but whatever – we learned our lesson and will return WITH A RESERVATION next time.
