Downtown Happy Hour: Rosa Mexicano
I usually try to stay away from LA Live for happy hours (and pretty much in general) to avoid the crowds and massive parking structure that I almost always get lost in, but yesterday stopped in to Rosa Mexicano with some co-workers and was pleasantly surprised. LA Live was definitely not as crazy last night since people in LA like to avoid being out in the rain and although the 1 mile drive from the California Mart to LA Live took 15 minutes, once we got to happy hour, all was well.

The food at Rosa is on the higher-priced end of the spectrum for Mexican food in LA, but their happy hour specials are definitely worth checking out. We had a group of 7 people and ordered pretty much everything on the happy hour menu along with booze and some entrees off the regular menu and left paying $20/person, I was amazed (and also very full and buzzed).
Happy hour at Rosa runs Monday – Friday from 4-7p in the bar area, perfect if you work downtown and can get there before 7p; the servers are super friendly and the service is quick. They also don’t give you dirty looks for ordering multiple rounds of drinks at 6:59pm in order to cash in on happy hour deals.
Here are some highlights of the happy hour offerings:
- Margaritas: $4.40..and they make them stiff!
- Beers: $3
- Pitchers of Sangria (white or red): $13.90 (by far the best deal on the HH drinks menu, we had 2 pitchers and they each yielded 5-6 glasses each)
- Flautas: $4.50 (3 flautas per order)
- Citrus salad: $3.50 (co-worker ordered this and said it was delicious)
- Quesadilla: $4.40
- Tacos: $3.50
Overall, a great place to get drunk and fat after work without dropping too much $$.
