Hangover Brunch: The Village Idiot
The Village Idiot is one of my favorite mid-city spots of all time. I used to frequent it for happy hour and for drinks at night and in recent months it has become one of my go-to spots for a great brunch. If you’ve never been to the Idiot, do yourself a favor and check it out asap, you’ll thank us after, we promise.

The Idiot has some amazing breakfast/brunch fare, and since I skipped breakfast this morning it’s almost torture to my tummy to fill my head with the thoughts of their food. Things from their menu I love: the cinnamon orange french toast with bacon ($9) – I could eat 3 plates of this easily, the rancher’s breakfast (think huevoes rancheros, $11), and the sourdough grilled cheese with gruyere and bacon ($12). It is a British gastropub so you will also be able to don your best cockneyed accent and order up some fish and chips ($14), eggs and heinz beans on toast ($13), or our favorite English side (for obvious reasons): bangers ($5 for 2).
Plus, for us alchies, on Saturdays and Sundays from 9-1pm, you can get a bottle of prosecco for $15. Not exactly bottomless mimosas, but will get the job done and still leave you coherent enough to get on with your day.
In addition to their great food, the atmosphere at the Idiot is pretty awesome for a lazy weekend brunch, always a good crowd and a good spot to plant yourself for a few hours. If you are a fan of soccer, the Idiot is also the place to be to watch any and all games.

I like the name, The Village Idiot. I wonder why the proprietor named the restaurant that way.
