Two LA Girls Perpetually Searching for the Best Thing to Do/Eat/Drink in the City – without spending our entire paychecks.

 

 

About Us:

We’re recent (well… relatively recent…) college grads from USC. We both have busy day jobs (yes, sadly this blog is just for fun and doesn’t pay the bills) but sometimes (all the time) after a tough work day we’re desperate for some great food and a great drink (or two… or three…) Problem is – we want to enjoy our food and drinks without spending a fortune – which can be exceedingly difficult in the pricey city of LA.

(God how we miss the ‘free-ness’ of frat parties…)

 

Turns out there are others out there just like us!

So in order to serve you (and sate our desire for credit/fame) we created Finer Things LA to share our knowledge of happy hours, special menus, dining discounts, and the few expensive spots that are actually worth the dough, around town.

We’re not pro-writers (or even terribly good ones) but we do like writing and we love sharing our infinite wisdom. Ultimately, our goal is to help you enjoy the finer things in life  (i.e. getting fat and drunk) without spending all your money. Personally, we hate reading blogs that tell stories of cool exclusive events that are already over (or that are so exclusive we could never have gone anyway!) I mean, how can you take advantage of that information when the topic is no longer relevant? Here at FinerThings we’ll never rub in your face rad places we went that are no longer available to you – we’re here to let you know of deals & events BEFORE they begin (or at least before they are over!)

Important Facts About V & K:

* V: Hails from La Canada, loves drinking Babychams & Hefs (Blue Moon you have my heart!), obsessed with bottomless mimosas & addicted to any type of miniature sandwich (i.e. sliders). Enjoys drinking solo at airport bars, has never been able to stay awake past 7pm after a day of tailgating, and likes creating alternative personalities for herself when blacked out (to the host at ESPNZone who thinks I’m a lawyer & to the guy at the club who thinks I’m a stewardess – this ones for you). Big believer that there are 3 glasses of wine per bottle MAX (maybe 2… but definitely not 4!)

*K: Hails from Seattle, obsessed with 90s R&B & Pop Hits, LOVES champagne (especially Veuve), and has never met a bottle of wine not worthy of being consumed. Only started eating fish when this blog was created, has a drunk alter-ego named Slow (& thanks to a friend Slow has her own FB page). Watches an absurd amount of TV + Football, is the maven of obscure facts & useless information, and tends to disappear at the end of a night of drinking to pass out (even if she’s the hostess). Loves the word plethora & was once told she was the ‘second hottest girl in the bar’ by a stranger at Privilege (not first?!!?!)
