Yes, its been a while since we’ve been here.

We’ll spare you the details on why, too dark & serious for our snarky boozed up blog, but just know we’re back now. Maybe not consistently, but we’ll be poking our heads in from time to time to share some fattening and boozy news. Luckily, our hiding period was still filled happy hours and bottomless mimosas, as they prove the most wonderful distraction for the daily grind.

One of the spots we’ve hit up of late? Flames in San Jose.

Yes, San Jose. Random spot for a weekend trip, we know. And if YOU ever find yourself visiting downtown San Jose, please know this: there is nothing to do in this city on the weekend*, except to booze. And luckily Flames offers inexpensive, free flowin, bottomless mimosas on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Spot: Flames Eatery & Bar, San Jose CA

The Boozy Brunch Hours: Sat & Sun, 9am – 2pm

Bottomless Deal: $9 Bottomless Mimosas (with Purchase of Food Item)

Menu Highlights: The menu is pretty huge, and we only tried the eggs benny on a croissant with spinach, which was pretty good. But then again, by the time we ordered it we were already 5+ mimosas in… so our judgement might have been off… really off… as per the restaurant website: “95% Champagne + 5% OJ for Color = Mimosa”… so we’re not talking pansy breakfast boozin here….

The service was great, our glasses were always kept full, and while all of San Jose was eerily silent that Saturday, inside Flames the bar & tables were filled and we could hear the happy chanting of ‘chug chug chug’. It was great.

*Okay, so we did find a few things worth doing in San Jose other than bottomless mimosas. The bar at the Fairmont was nice & had live music, Mezcal served some good margs and mole, and while we didn’t head here, I wish we had (post mimosas), because it looks awesome.

Brunch Spot: 9-Olives – Chaplin House, West Hollywood

Brunching Hours: Sundays, starting at 11am. (Not sure until when….)

Boozy Brunch Deal: $40 for Tapas & Family Style Brunch, including Bottomless Mimosas, Bloody Marys, Draft Beers and Specialty Cocktails.

Menu Highlights: Family style Pizza with smoked salmon, cream cheese, red onion, arugula, capers, Chicken & Waffles (always a must on our brunch list), and tapas like Pork Belly with truffled egg, bacon hollandaise, crispy onions. All sound super rich and deeeeelish!

For those that feel this place is vaguely familiar, but much fancier than you remember – 9 Olives is in the former Libertine spot. It got itself a lovely makeover, a great menu revamp, and with the addition of Sunday Funday bottomless mimosas we are totally wooed.

Brunching Hours: Sundays, starting at 10am. Yes, per the above image, the doors open at 9:30, but you gotta wait til 10 to enjoy the bottomless booze. Upside: deal is valid all day, all night.

Boozy Brunch Deal: $10 Bottomless Mimosas & Bellinis

Menu Highlights: Booze. NFL Sunday Ticket. (Oh and apparently they also serve eggies over arugula and steak frites. Both sound worthy of finding a temporary home in our stomachs.)

Saturday is USC Homecoming after all, an event boldly penned into our schedule every year. An event we will not, nay CAN NOT, miss.

But then we learned yesterday the game starts at noon, meaning:

a. We are going to have to get to campus painfully early to start tailgating/drinking.

b. We will have 3ish hours to cheer, scream, dance, and sober up at the stadium, before we head down the street to Magestic Studios to start another 4 hours of  drinking at the second shift of Wine Riot!

So perfect, right?!

Second Glass – Wine Riot

When: Saturday, Nov 10th. First Shift: 1pm – 5pm, Second Shift: 7pm – 11pm.

Cost: $50 a person

What: ALL YOU CAN DRINK vino tastings of over 250 different wines, photo booths, fake tats, and some wine classes. Plus there will be food to purchase from an assortment of local vendors.

Brunching Hours: Sundays, Noon – 3pm

Boozy Brunch Deal: $12 Bottomless Mimosas

Menu Highlights: This menu is more snack plate focused, with items like flatbreads, olives, spreads, and cheeses. Though those proscuitto bon bons sound absolutely fantastic (warm dates stuffed with chevre wrapped in piggy)

The LGB always elicits fond memories for us. Not that we’ve actually spent any time there, but more so  because Dr Dre always referenced it in his songs, which we used to jam to in our parents vehicles in high school. When you mix Dr. Dre + bottomless mimosas, it is certain to end up a perfect Sunday Funday.

Brunch Spot: Angelina Ristorante – Chicago

Bottomless Hours: Saturday 11am – 2:30pm, & Sunday 10am – 3pm

Boozy Brunch Deal: $21 Brunch Entree + Bottomless Mimosas

Menu Highlights: Our eyes and hungry guts are obsessed with this Breakfast Croissant mentioned on the menu (canadian bacon, eggs and smoked mozzarella), though the good ‘ol BLT might be just as nice. There is also french toast, a Spanish fritatta, and a selection of salads as well as some pricier pastas.

The parent of the aforementioned minors tipped us off on this boozy brunch and gave it two thumbs up. This parent, though with many life obligations these days, still has a damn good palette/appetite and a thirst for the bright orange booze, so we trust her implicitly in this recommendation. Not to mention, with menu items typically running $8-$9  each, this means your bottomless booze is only an additional $11. SUCH a good deal!

SATURDAY, OCT 27th: 

Dog Haus (Pasadena): Saturday, Oct 27th, 6:00pm – 2:00am. Contest for best and ‘wurst’ (hardeeharhar) costumes, DJ starting at 8pm.

213 Ventures (Downtown): Saturday, Oct 27th, Open to Close. Deals vary by location but every spot seems to have its own specialty Halloween punch available ($6 at most venues, $5 at Cana.) For a full list of venues & deals click here.

Mad Bull’s Tavern (Sherman Oaks): Saturday, Oct 27th, start-time not listed on flyer. ‘Monster Bash 2′ with many different costume contests, top prize winners earning trips for two to sin city. Reservations encouraged.

Seventy7 Cocktail Lounge (Culver City): Saturday, Oct 27th, 8:00pm – 2:00am. ‘Rocky Horror Halloween Party’. Moving showing on three screens, costume contests, and drink specials.

SUNDAY, OCT 28th:

Pink Taco (West Hollywood): Sunday, Oct 28th, 1:00pm – 8:00pm. ‘Sunday Funday Costume Party’ with games, prizes, beer pong, hula hoop contests, board games and BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS (until 3pm.) THEN, Tuesday Oct 30th PT will host a Dia De Los Muertos event with 2 for 1 pitchers of margs + costume contest with prizes 8-11pm.

Zombie Pub Crawl (Downtown): Sunday Oct 28th, 3pm – 11pm. The schedule includes stops at Redwood, La Cita, Bar 107, and The Down & Out and features drink specials, costume contests, and Thriller dance lessons. Come dressed in Zombie attire.

TUESDAY, OCT 30th:

Rock & Reilly’s (West Hollywood): TWO EVENTS. Oct 30th, 8pm – Midnight, learn how to dance to MJ’s Thriller with a dance expert + chance to win one-of-a-kinda Thriller jacket. This is our favorite dance to bust out a parties, so we might just have to hit this up to perfect our moves. THEN: Oct 31st, head back to R&R for their ’Best Worst Costume Contest’ for a chance to win a  $250 bar tab.

WEDNESDAY, OCT 31st,  HALLOWEEN! 

Mas Malo (Downtown): Wednesday, Oct 31st, Starting at 6pm. Costumes contests EVERY HOUR! Lotsa chances to win stuff!

City Sip LA (Echo Park): Wednesday, Oct 31st, 6pm – Midnight. “Freakshow” w/ fire dancing, tarot card readers, bobbing for apples and ‘freak photography’. ‘Freakish’ costumes encouraged.

PaliHouse (West Hollywood): Wednesday, Oct 31st, 9pm – 2am. A classier variety of Halloween event called a Masquerade Ball. Wear your fanciest feathered and sparkled mask + gown/tux, and dance all night to the live DJs.

Golden Road Brewery (Glendale): Wednesday, Oct 31st 7pm – Midnight. Launch of Brew & View Movie Nights with outdoor screen playing Psycho & Ghostbusters (where you should obviously sing a long ala Ray Parker Jr.) There will be some movie snacks too like popcorn and pretzels… and beer lots of beer. (Psst: this event will go down every Wednesday through December with a different movie combo each week.)

Boozy Brunch Spot: St. Felix, Hollywood

Brunching Hours: 11am – ‘whenever’ (quoted straight from our source on the phone at St. Felix) 

Bottomless Deal: $20 Bottomless Mimosas w/ Entree Purchase + Build Your Own Bloody Mary Bar (Not bottomless, cost varies depending on the ingredients you select)

Menu Highlights: No clue. There was mention from our lovely informer of ‘specialty brunch items’, and we see similar mention on their facebook page. But nary a detail is to be found. However, that Bloody Mary above looks like a meal in-and-of-itself so we’ll put that as the top brunch highlight for now. For their standard full menu of lunchy/dinnery items – check out this link.
