Sunday Night Suppers at Culina

Most of the Sunday suppers we’re aware of around town are casual affairs with big bowls of pastas and salads, made with inexpensive but flavorful ingredients. Very easy going without a lot of fluff.

Obviously, Culina is too stylish to serve you vats of spaghetti and Caesar salad. So when they threw their hat into the Sunday Supper ring, they did so in a way that perfectly reflects the vibe of their restaurant and food: lots of fancy courses filled with lots of delicious, fresh, and impressive ingredients.

Sunday Supper

I know, I know, ANOTHER prix fixe post, I can’t help myself! Before starting FinerThings,  I never realized just how many great prix fixe deals were available around LA;  I thought I could only take advantage of these types of deals during DineLA restaurant week but after digging around was soon proven wrong.  Anyways, if you are like us and enjoy a multi-course meal, check out Whist at the Viceroy this Sunday for their Savor Sunday dinner deal – perfect for Father’s day (…more Father’s Day specials to come later today!).

Whist’s Savor Sunday dinner is a 3-course family style meal for $27/person.  Price includes food but they will have beer and wine pairings to complement their menus.  This Sunday features a Memphis style BBQ menu – yum! – grilled shrimp salad and grilled veggies (corn, peppers, eggplant), bbq main course (ribs, brisket, pulled pork, baked beans, slaw AND cornbread), and for dessert banana creme pie.  The menu sounds amazing and the reviews have been pretty great so definitely worth heading to this Sunday.

Reservations are recommended so make sure to call ahead. In addition to this Sunday night supper deal, Whist/Cameo bar also have a great happy hour from 5-9p daily and they do have Sunday brunch (although not bottomless anymore 😦 for $49/person).

Sunday Supper @ Eva

I know, I know, Sunday is so far away. But seeing as we don’t post on the weekends, there isn’t really a good day to post on Sunday events so here it is.

We have written up some other Sunday and Monday prix fixe suppers around town and here is another to add to the list: Eva Restaurant in West Hollywood.  Eva is located on Beverly down the block from BLD and close enough to Milk to drop by after for some yummy baked goods (if you aren’t stuffed enough that is). Every Sunday, Eva has a 3-course meal featuring all you can drink wine for $39/person.  Yes, unlimited wine! The courses are always changing based on whatever chef Mark Gold feels like cooking up that day, and are served family style.

It is in intimate space with seating indoors and on the patio, and is supposed to feel more like a large family dinner in your own dining room rather than in a restaurant.  The chef comes out to crack jokes in between courses and check on the diners’ responses to his dishes, and with free-flowing wine you can bet you’ll feel like hanging around for hours.

Since it is a small space, reservations are recommended for Sunday Supper, and try not to show up in a party larger than 6-8 people.
